Fried Apple Rings
Ingredients:
- egg white - 1
- water - 1 cup
- vanilla extract - 1 T
- flour - 1 cup
- salt - 1/4 t
- apples, cored, peeled, sliced 1/2 inch thick - 6
- sugar - 1/3 cup
- cinnamon - 1 T
- powdered sugar - 1 1/2 cups
- milk - 2 T
Instructions:
In a bowl mix together sugar and cinnamon; set aside. In a bowl whisk egg white until foamy, add water and vanilla, whisk. Add flour and salt and whisk.
Dip apple rings into batter, fry in 375 degree oil. Fry apples in small batches and turn frequently till golden brown and place on paper towels to drain. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture.
Place apple rings on wire rack and place the wire rack on a cookie sheet. Place in 400 degree oven for 5 - 10 minutes or until the rings turn crispy.
Prepare icing -- In a bowl, mix together until smooth butter, milk and powdered sugar. Drizzle over apple rings. Serve warm.
