Apple Bread
Ingredients:
- butter, softened - 1/2 cup
- brown sugar - 1 cup
- milk - 1/4 cup
- eggs - 2
- vanilla - 1 t
- flour - 2 cups
- baking powder - 2 t
- salt - 1 t
- cinnamon - 1/2 t
- nutmeg - 1/2 t
- apples, peeled, sliced, cut into bite size chunks - 4 large OR 6 medium
- butter, melted - 2 T
- flour - 1/2 cup
- brown sugar - 1/2 cup
Instructions:
In a bowl, combine butter, brown sugar, milk, eggs and vanilla. Beat on medium speed until mixture is creamy. In a second bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Gradually add flour mixture to egg mixture; mix. Fold in apples and pour into a greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pan.
For the topping, combine 2 T butter, 1/2 cup flour and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Mix with a fork until crumbly and sprinkle evenly over the top of the batter. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 45 - 55 minutes, until toothpick inserted in the center of the bread comes out cleam. Slice and serve warm.
If desired nuts can be added to the batter or the topping.
