Apple Fritter Pull Apart
Ingredients:
- Grands refrigerated biscuits (your choice of flavor) - 1 can
- granny smith apples, very finely diced - 2
- lemon juice - 1 t
- brown sugar - 1/3 cup
- sugar - 2 T
- vanilla extract - 1/2 t
- ground cinnamon - 1 t
- ground ginger - 1/4 t
- ground nutmeg - 1/2 t
- ground allspice - 1/4 t
Instructions:
In a saucepan combine all filling ingredients over medium heat. Cook, stir occasionally, until apples have browned, softened and sauce has thickened. Set aside to cool.
Grease a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan; set aside. With a knife, cut each biscuit in half horizontally to make 16 biscuit halves. Flatten each half with your hand to thin them out. Place about a tablespoon of apple filling onto each biscuit half. Stack biscuit halves on top of one another to form four stacks with four biscuit halves each. Place the stacks in the pan, (easier to put biscuits in pan, if you stand loaf pan on end) arranging so the ends of both sides have biscuit without filling touching the pan. (You'll have to sandwich two filling sides.)
Cover with foil and bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake until golden brown and cooked through, check every 5 minutes or so. Cool loaf in pan for 5 minutes then remove from the pan, place on wire rack to cool.
Prepare glaze -- whisk together 1 1/2 c powdered sugar and 1/4 c half and half, if needed add more to reach desired consistency. Whisk in vanilla, drizzle glaze over loaf.
