Apple Praline Bread
Ingredients:
- sour cream - 1 c
- brown sugar - 1 c
- eggs - 2
- vanilla - 2 t
- flour - 2 cups
- baking powder - 2 t
- baking soda - 1/2 t
- salt - 1/2 t
- Granny Smith apples, peeled, finely chopped - 1 1/2 cups
- nuts, walnuts or pecans, divided - 1 cup
- brown sugar - 1/4 cup
- butter - 1/4 cup
Instructions:
In a bowl beat together sour cream, sugar, eggs and vanilla on low speed until well blended. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; beat on low until well combined. Fold the apples and half of the nuts into the batter. Pour batter into a greased 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan.
Sprinkle remaining nuts over top and lightly press them into the batter. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool in the loaf pan for 20 - 30 minutes, remove, place on a wire rack to cool completely.
Prepare praline sauce -- In a sauce pan, over medium heat bring butter and brown sugar, to a boil. Lower heat and simmer for about one minute, stir constantly until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat, drizzle sauce over the bread. Cool completely.
