Caramelized Banana French Toast
Ingredients:
- half & half, hot - 1/2 cup
- dark chocolate, coarsely chopped - 4 ounces
- bananas - 4
- sugar - 1/2 cup
- water - 2 T
- egg, lightly beaten - 3
- milk - 1 1/2 cups
- sugar - 1/4 cup
- white bread - 8
- butter - 1/4 cup
Instructions:
Pour hot half & half over the chocolate, whisk until smooth; set aside.
Slice bananas in half and then in half lengthwise. In nonstick skillet, melt the sugar and water, cook until golden brown. Add bananas, coat them with the caramel. Remove from heat; set aside.
In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk and sugar; set aside. Spread banana mixture on four slices of bread and cover with the remaining bread slices. Dip each sandwich, into egg mixture, soak thoroughly. Melt 1 T butter in a skillet, brown the sandwiches on both sides. Repeat with remaining butter and sandwices. Cut each sandwich diagonally. Drizzle chocolate sauce over the top.
