1 c sugar
1 c flour
½ c butter, soft
2 eggs, beaten
1 t almond extract (to desired taste)
1/4 c slivered almonds (to desired taste)
Stir together with a spoon not a mixer.
In a large bowl, stir together sugar and flour.
Stir in butter; mixture will be crumbly.
Mix eggs and flavoring together, then stir into butter mixture.
Spread into lightly buttered pie pan.
Sprinkle slivered almonds on top.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25-35 minutes until edges are light golden brown. Cut into 16 wedges while slightly warm.
Cake will be slightly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside.
