1/2 c butter, cubed
14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
2 lbs powdered sugar
2 c chopped pecans or walnuts
2 1/2 t maple flavoring
1 t vanilla extract
24 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
In a sauce pan combine sweetened condensed milk and butter, heat on low until butter is melted. Remove from heat.
In a bowl combine sugar and milk mixture; beat until smooth.
Stir in nuts, maple flavoring and vanilla extract, until well combined.
Roll into 3/4–1 inch balls and place on waxed paper lined cookie sheets. Place in refrigerator until very firm.
Melt chips and shortening together stir until smooth. (or use chocolate candy wafers, DO NOT add oil if using wafers)
Dip the balls into chocolate allow excess to drip off.
Place balls onto waxed paper and let set until chocolate is set. (To speed up place in refrigerator)
Store in an airtight container.
