3/4 c flour
1/4 t baking soda
1/4 t salt
6 T butter
1/3 c packed brown sugar
1/3 c sugar
1 egg
1 t vanilla extract
1 c old-fashioned oats
3/4 c semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 c walnuts, chopped
Mix together flour, baking soda, and salt until well blended, set aside.
In a saucepan on low heat, melt butter, remove pan from heat. Whisk in brown sugar and sugar until blended. Whisk in egg and vanilla. With wooden spoon, stir in flour mixture, add oats, chocolate chips and walnuts until combined.
Spoon batter into a even 8 inch circle onto a parchment lined cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 18 minutes, until cookie is golden brown. Cool cookie sheet on wire rack for 15 minutes. Cut cookie into 12 wedges and serve warm. If desired add a dip of ice cream, drizzle chocolate syrup over ice cream, top with chopped nuts and a maraschino cherry.
