Maple Butterscotch Bars
Ingredients:
- flour - 1 cup
- baking soda - 1/8 t
- baking powder - 1/2 t
- flaky sea salt - 1/2 t
- butter, melted - 1/3 cup
- packed light brown sugar - 1 cup
- egg, room temperature - 1
- vanilla bean paste - 1 T
- pecans, finely chopped - 1/2 cup
- white chocolate chips - 1/4 cup
- butterscotch chips - 1/4 cup
- butter - 1/2 cup
- cream cheese, softened - 2 ounces
- powdered sugar - 1/2 cup
- maple syrup - 2 T
Instructions:
Line a 8 x 8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, have a 2 inch overhang on two sides; spray with nonstick cooking spray; set aside.
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. In a second bowl, mix together 1/3 cup butter and brown sugar. Add egg and vanilla, mix until combined. Slowly add flour mixture until just combined. Fold in pecans, white chocolate chips and butterscotch. Spread batter evenly in prepared pan.
Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 18 - 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool before cutting.
While bars are cooling or before serving, prepare maple sauce -- in a saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter, whisk in cream cheese. Add powdered sugar whisk until smooth; mix in maple syrup. To serve, place bars on individual serving plate or bowl, pour warm sauce over each bar, top with a scoop of butter pecan ice cream.
