Peanut Butter Krispie Bars
Ingredients:
- Rice Krispie cereal - 1 1/3 cups
- water - 1/4 cup
- sugar - 1/4 cup
- light corn syrup - 3 T
- butter, melted - 3 T
- Chocolate peanut butter --
- milk chocolate, coarsely chopped - 5 ounces
- creamy peanut butter - 1 cup
- Glaze --
- semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped - 4 ounces
- light corn syrup - 1 T
- butter - 4 T
Instructions:
Place cereal in a bowl; set aside.
In a small pan, add water, slowly add sugar and corn syrup into the center of the pan. Stir constantly until a candy thermometer reaches 235 degrees. Remove from heat, stir in butter. Pour mixture over cereal, stir to coat. Press mixture into a buttered 8 x 8 inch pan, place in freezer to cool.
Prepare chocolate peanut layer -- melt together peanut butter and chocolate, stir until smooth. Pour mixture evenly over cereal, return to freezer until firm.
Prepare glaze -- melt together chocolate, corn syrup and butter, stir until smooth. Spread evenly over chocolate layer. Place in refrigerator to set.
Store in a airtight container in the refrigerator.
