Apple Dumpling
Ingredients:
- flour - 2 cups
- baking powder - 2 1/2 t
- salt - 1/2 t
- butter, softened - 2/3 cup
- milk - 1/2 cup
- apples, peeled, cored - 6
- brown sugar - 2 cups
- water - 2 cups
- butter - 1/4 cup
- cinnamon - 1/2 t
Instructions:
In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Mix in 2/3 cup butter, add milk and mix until a soft dough forms. Divide dough into 6 balls. Roll out each ball of dough, place an apple in the center of each piece of dough. Fold the dough around the apple and press it together to form a ball. Place seam side up in a greased 13 x 9 inch baking pan.
In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, water, 1/4 cup butter and cinnamon. Heat just until it starts to boiling, stirring often. Pour mixture over apples, bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 30 minutes, or until apples are soft and dough is golden brown. Serve warm or room temperature with ice cream or whipped cream.
