Banana Split Dessert
Ingredients:
- graham crackers, crushed - 2 cups
- sugar - 1/4 cup
- margarine, melted - 1/2 cup
- bananas, sliced - 3 - 4
- neapolitian ice cream OR vanilla - 1/2 gallon
- chopped nuts - 1 cup
- chocolate chips - 1 cup
- powdered sugar - 2 cups
- evaporated milk - 1 1/2 cups
- margarine - 1/2 cup
- vanilla extract - 1 t
- Cool Whip, thawed - 8 - 12 ounces - to desired taste
- maraschino cherries - for garnish
Instructions:
Prepare graham cracker crust -- with a fork, toss cracker crumbs and margarine together, pat into a 13 x 9 inch pan.
Lay bananas on cracker crumbs, slice ice cream into 1/2 inch thick slices, place on banana slices. Sprinkle chopped nuts over ice cream. Cover and place in freezer.
In a saucepan, combine chocolate chips, powdered sugar, evaporated milk, 1/2 cup margarine and vanilla, bring to a boil and boil for 5 minutes. Cool and pour evenly over ice cream. Spread Cool Whip over chocolate. Garnish with maraschino cherries. Cover, place in freezer.
