Walnut Strudel
Ingredients:
- egg - 1
- water - 1 T
- semi sweet chocolate, chopped - 4 squares (4 ounces)
- milk - 2 T
- butter - 1 T
- puff pastry, thawed - 1/2 package (1 sheet)
- chopped walnuts - 1/2 cup
- powdered sugar -
Instructions:
With a fork beat egg and water together; set aside. Melt together chocolate, milk and butter until mixture is melted and smooth. On lightly floured surface unfold the pastry sheet, roll pastry sheet into a 16 x 12 inch rectangle. Spread chocolate mixture over pastry to within 1 1/2 inches of the edge; sprinkle walnuts over chocolate. Starting on the short side, roll up like a jelly roll. Place seam side down onto a greased baking sheet. Tuck ends under to seal. Brush roll with the egg mixture. Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for 35 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown. Remove form oven, place baking sheet on a wire rack to cool for 30 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve warm.
