Cinnamon Dippers with Glaze
Ingredients:
- flour - 1 1/2 c
- sugar, divided - 4 T
- salt - 1/2 t
- butter, soft, divided - 1/2 c plus 1 T
- ice cold water - 3 - 6 T
- cinnamon - 1 t
- cream cheese, softened - 2 ounces
- powdered sugar - 1 1/2 c
- vanilla - 1/4 t
- milk -
- brown sugar - 3 T
- butter - 3 T
- cinnamon - 1/2 t
Instructions:
In a bowl whisk together flour, 3 T sugar and salt. With a pastry cutter, cut in ½ c butter until crumbly. Add 3 T ice cold water and mix to combine. Add 1 T water at a time as needed until mixture comes together. Flatten dough into a round disk, wrap with plastic wrap, place in refrigerator for 15 minutes or overnight.
Unwrap dough, roll to a 1/2 inch thickness, use a pizza cutter to cut into 1 1/2 inch strips. Place strips on a greased baking sheet. Spread 1 T very soft butter over the tops of each strip. Combine 1 t cinnamon and 1 T sugar; sprinkle mixture over the tops of the buttered strips. Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for 12 - 14 minutes, until lightly browned.
Prepare glaze -- In a bowl mix together cream cheese, powdered sugar and vanilla. Add milk 1 t at a time until a smooth consistency is reached, place in serving bowl. In a sauce pan combine brown sugar, 3 T butter and 1/2 t cinnamon, whisk until butter melts and mixture is smooth. Drizzle cinnamon mixture over glaze. Serve warm or at room temp.
