Cream Cheese Danish
Ingredients:
- frozen puff pastry, thawed - 1 box
- cream cheese, softened - 8 ounces
- powdered sugar, divided - 1 1/2 cups
- egg - 1
- vanilla extract - 1 tsp
- seedless raspberry jam OR jam of choice - 1/2 cup
- milk - 5 tsp
- chopped pecans, divided - 1/2 cup
Instructions:
Place pastry on 2 baking sheets; unfold.
In a bowl, blend together cream cheese, 1/2 cup powdered sugar, egg and vanilla. Spread 1/2 of the cream cheese mixture down the center of each pastry. Gently spread 1/4 cup jam on top of cream cheese. Cut slits 1 inch apart on each side of the filling; crisscross strips over filling.
Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for 25 - 30 minutes, or until golden brown; let cool 5 minutes, remove from pan, place on wire rack to completely cool.
Prepare frosting -- in a bowl, whisk together 1 cup powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle 1/2 of frosting over each danish, sprinkle pecans over top.
