Home Made Pop Tarts
Ingredients:
- butter, melted - 4 T
- phyllo sheets, divided - 10
- raspberry jam or jam of choice - 1/2 c
- powdered sugar - 1 c
- vanilla extract - 1 t
- water - 2 - 3 T
Instructions:
Line a baking sheet with foil. Layer 5 pieces of Phyllo sheets on baking sheet, brush each sheet with melted butter before adding the next. Brush the 5th sheet with butter and spread with raspberry jam, leave a 1 inch border around the edges. Layer remaining 5 Phyllo sheets, brushing each sheet with butter before adding the next. Brush the top layer with butter, with a pizza cutter, cut the pastry into 8 rectangles. DO NOT move the pastries.
Bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for 12 - 15 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oven and slightly cool. Prepare glaze -- Whisk together powdered sugar, vanilla and 2 T water; until smooth and thoroughly combined. If glaze is too thick, add 1 T water, whisk until smooth. Drizzle glaze over each pop tart.
