Swiss Steak
Ingredients:
- flour - 1/4 cup
- salt - 1 t
- pepper - 1/4 t
- round steak, trimmed, tenderized - 1 1/2 - 2 pounds
- vegetable oil - 2 T
- celery, chopped - 1 cup
- onion, chopped - 1 cup
- fresh mushrooms, sliced - 1/2 pound
- water - 1 cup
- garlic, minced - 1 clove
- steak sauce - 1 T
Instructions:
Cut steak into serving size pieces. Combine flour, salt and pepper, dredge meat in flour mixture. Heat oil in a skillet, brown meat on both sides. Place meat in a casserole, top with celery, onion and mushrooms. Combine water, garlic and steak sauce, pour over the vegetables. Cover, bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 1 1/2 hours or until meat is tender.
