- extra virgin oil - 2 T
- salt - 2 t
- sugar - 2 t
- flour - 3 1/2 cups
- butter, melted - 3 T
- mustard - 2 T
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 t
- hot sauce - 1 t
- paprika - 1 t
- black pepper - dash
- shredded cheddar cheese - 1 1/2 cups
- deli ham, chopped - 1 1/2 cups
Instructions:
Prepare dough -- in a bowl, whisk together yeast and water; let sit for 5 minutes until yeast is foamy. Mix in olive oil, salt, sugar and flour, knead the dough for 5 - 6 minutes or until elastic. Place dough in a lightly oiled large bowl, cover with plastic wrap, let set for 1 hour. Prepare filling while waiting --
Filling -- in a saucepan melt butter. Remove from heat, stir in mustard, Worcestershire and hot sauce until smooth. In a second bowl mix together cheese, ham, paprika and pepper. Cover, place mustard sauce and ham mixture in refrigerator until ready to use.
Assemble -- Butter a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan; set aside. On a heavily floured work surface roll dough to 12 x 20 inch. Brush mustard mixture evenly over the dough, with a pizza cutter slice dough vertically into 5 strips. Sprinkle 1/4 of the ham mixture over one strip, top with another strip. Sprinkle another 1/4 of the ham mixture over this strip, top with another strip. Continue this process with the remaining strips. Last strip will not have ham mixture on it. Use a very sharp knife, cut bread stack into 6 - 7 segments. Layer the dough in the loaf pan. (Turn pan to the short side and stack one on top of the other) If needed press dough for all segments to fit.
Cover pan with plastic wrap, set aside to rise for about 30 minutes. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 25 - 30 minutes or until puffy and golden brown. Bread will pull apart when warm. Serve warm.
