Fried Green Tomatoes
Ingredients:
- firm green tomatoes - 3 - 4 large
- salt -
- buttermilk - 1 cup
- self rising flour - 2 cups
- freshly ground black pepper - to desired taste
- oil for frying - 2 cups
Instructions:
Slice tomatoes 1/4 inch thick, sprinkle each slice with salt. Place tomato slices in a colander to drain for 30 minutes. Mix pepper into flour.
In a skillet, heat the oil over medium high heat. Dip tomatoes in the buttermilk, then dredge them into flour. Fry until golden brown. Keep warm.
