Southern Baked Beans
Ingredients:
- Van Camp’s pork and beans - 2 - 28 ounce cans
- ketchup - 1/2 cup
- barbeque sauce - 1/2 cup
- brown sugar - 1/4 cup
- yellow mustard - 1 T
- Worchestershire sauce - 1 T
- Liquid Smoke - a few drops
- garlic powder - 1/4 t
- black pepper - 1/4 t
- thick cut bacon, cut into 1/2 inch pieces - 5 - 6 slices
Instructions:
In a bowl, combine ketchup, barbeque sauce, brown sugar, mustard, worchestershire sauce, Liquid Smoke, garlic and pepper, mix well; set aside.
Open beans and discard standing liquid in the top of the can. Gently mix beans in the ketchup mixture until thoroughly combined. Pour into a shallow 2 quart casserole dish. Lay uncooked bacon in a single layer on top of the beans.
Bake, uncovered, in a preheated 350 degree oven for 1 - 1 1/2 hours or until bacon is cooked and starting to crisp.
